If eligible, contribute max €2,450 (2026) to a long-term savings plan for an additional 30% tax deduction. Check with your insurer — this shares the cap with mortgage tax deductions in some regions.

Check if your allocation drifted more than 5% from target. Rebalance by selling overweight positions or directing new investments to underweight ones.

Belgium has no capital gains tax on "normal management" of private assets. But if you trade actively, consider selling losing positions to offset gains. Consult a tax advisor for your situation.

If you hold distributing ETFs or stocks, record all dividend payments. Belgian brokers withhold tax automatically. Foreign brokers don't — you must declare them on your annual tax return. The first €833 (2026) in dividends is tax-free.

If your broker withheld 30% on dividends but you're below the €833 exemption, you can reclaim the tax via your annual tax return (code 1437/2437).

Your bank/insurer sends a fiscal certificate (attestation). Enter the amount in your tax return under "Pensioensparen" / "Épargne-pension". Your 30% refund will be calculated automatically.

If you have accounts at DEGIRO, Saxo, Trade Republic, Interactive Brokers, or any non-Belgian financial institution: you must declare them on your tax return AND register them at the CAP (Central Contact Point) at the National Bank of Belgium.

Report all dividends in your tax return. Request the exemption (code 1437/2437) for the first €833. If foreign withholding was applied, you may be able to reclaim part of it.

If you sold a bond ETF (or mixed ETF with 10%+ bonds), check if the Reynders tax (30% on the bond portion gain) applies. Belgian brokers handle this; foreign brokers don't.

If the average value of your securities accounts exceeds €1,000,000, you owe a 0.15% annual tax. This is handled automatically by Belgian brokers. Foreign brokers: declare on your tax return.
